In my opinion, you should not choose a place for affordability. I checked into several places (while in CA, not TX) and really liked this one place that was a little more pricey, but they REALLY took care of me. I paid a little more to get the best care. Your eyesight is certainly worth it. you need a reputable doctor and I would highly suggest the ALL LASER lasik. They have to sliver your cornea and the less expensive places many time use the old fashioned blade type procedure which IS more risky than the new, more expensive laser procedure which is what I had. It was awesome. It’s really an emotional experience to go in half blind and sit up from the painless surgery and be able to SEE stuff you couldn’t before. Some place offer and accept “care” credit which lets you make payments interest free for a year. In some cases, your medical insurance through work has a “flex” medical savings plan that allows you to put a portiion of your pay, pretax (good thing) into a medical savings plan for expensive not covered by insurance. You can use this money to pay for your Lasik without paying income tax on that amount. Or if you itemize your deductions on your tax return, you might be able to write it off as a medical expense. That’s what I did and it’s 100% legal, I checked. I paid $3500 for both eyes, but it’s a bit less now and I had added another procedure to get to that total to give me clarity of vision. SO worth it. others have theirs done for $500 an eye. I don’t trust. it.
