Is My Lasik Irritation Normal?

I got Lasik custom cornea about 6 months ago from a well reputed doctor (I didn’t go cheap and checked references)
I have severe irritation and dryness / redness even after all this time. I have poor vision in low light conditions and night halos. The only time my eyesight is great is in a fair amount of light (not too bright or I see these tiny spots)
My doctor has checked me out several times and says I have 20/15 vision and my eyes have healed perfectly but I am very unhappy with my eyes – mostly irritation.
Is this normal???

I went through the same exact thing. And the halos, and irritation did finally subside. I didn’t have that much irritation but the halos–and the halos caused blurriness. I never thought it would go away, but it did.. It took me about 9 mo’s to get rid of it…and now my eyes feel perfect.
I am only 20/30 and the doc says he can’t do anything more for me b/c my cornea is too small. But, I still think it was worth it, I had 20/400 before–I couldn’t even see the large “E”, it is a bit of a disappointment I couldn’t get closer to 20/20..

You may be suffering from higher order aberrations in the mid-periphery of your cornea. This would be more noticeable in low-light situations as your pupil will be larger. Ask to have a wave-scan done at the center where you had your pre-operative evaluation. As for the dryness, it took me several months to recover to a “normal” level…meaning I had dry eye to begin with. Continue to use lubricants at least four times a day…if you need more than this, check with your doctor for additional treatment.

Laser eye surgery is for the most part a simple procedure that millions of people have recovered from with great success. Some of these complications may be experienced only briefly as a side effect.
