It depends. One common side effect of it are dry eyes and that condition often is permanent. Some people have it so badly that they have to constantly apply eye drops. Another side effect is bad night vision. Many people experience halos, star bursts, and double vision. Keep in mind that this procedure permanently weakens the corneas. They could rupture at any time. That’s why the FDA doesn’t recommend it for people who like to engage in contact sports. Then there are some questions about it affecting the accuracy of tests for eye conditions such as glaucoma and cataracts.
I’ve decided not to get it done. Since I’m over the age of 40, I would only be trading one problem for another. I may no longer need my regular glasses but I will have to carry around readers because it will cause me to lose my ability to see close up without glasses.

I had 20/200 vision with an astigmatism. Within 6 months of having the procedure done, my eyes were back at 20/200. I was 20 years old at the time. I went to the most highly acclaimed, expensive surgeon in the area too.
Make sure your surgeon offers follow up procedures, begin vision reverting is typical. I’d flown back to another state and was busy with college, so I couldn’t fly back to have it re-corrected. Almost 26 now and still wearing contacts.

I would like to take this time out to thank lasik for giving me a new life. It is an amazing feeling to wake up every morning and not having to worry about looking around to find my glasses. I feel like a new person and everything around me looks even more beautiful than it did.
trust me , i hav crystal clear vision nw….jst go 4 it!
    no disadvantages!

It is worth it, yes. Complications are rare and there are risks, just like with any other surgery. But once your eyes are fully back to normal it’s great! I know two people who’ve gotten it and love it.
But it is expensive. Finding the right surgeon is crucial to having things go well, and to have a thurough consultation.
And you will need glasses later on because of old age. That’s a given.

It’s cheaper in the long run… One time and your vision is fixed. Otherwise you have to get new glasses all the time, or new contacts all the time. It can add up over 10 to 20 years
Plus you never have to deal with glasses or contacts again, so that’s a plus
