I do not recommend LASIK. I can only speak for Army and I know that only recently they began excepting it.
    Instead, look into PRK.
People who receive LASIK have issues with loosing night vision because the procedure can only teat up to about 7.5mm of the eye. At night, your eyes can dialate up to 9mm and the result is halos. Also, any trauma to the head or even g-forces recieved from flight can lift the flap and cause SERIOUS damage to your eye. LASIK is also not permanant. you will have to have it touched up every few years which can cost a lot of $$ over the years and unnessesary procedures to your eyes.
PRK is a similar procedure also done with a laser but the actually “shave” the cornea to change the way it directs light into the eye. It is a little more expensive. It does not affect your night vision. There is no “flap” that can be lifted by trauma to the head/eye. You do not have to have it touched up over the years.
I am in the military and am playing with the idea of going into Aviation. I learned all of this from consultations with different doctors and reading online. I am not a candidate for LASIK because I have stigmatism and Lattice Degeneration. Even if I could get LASIK, I would still opt for PRK.

many people in the military get lasik surgery so they can do this, depending on the job you want to do, you could get put at the top of their list to have the surgery so you could be a pilot as long as you pass all the other qualifications. my sis’s bf is in the military and is on the list to have the surgery to fix his eyesight.
