I Want Contacts Or Lasik Surgery! Which One?

I am nearsighted, have astigmatism & just last year started wearing bi-focals. Should I consider Lasik? I was told Lasik can only fix for far away or close. Haven’t worn contacts in years! Suggestions?

contacts because lasik is too much of a risk besides long term effects have not been accounted for. So wait about ten more years before getting lasik atleast thats what i am doing.
get the 6 month day and night contacts so you wont have to take them out everyday and you can also sleep with them

You can get the lasik surgery done to correct your distance, but you will still need readers. Some people choose to have a (monovision) lasik where you make one eye for dist and the other for near. But you will definitely want to try contacts first with monovision. Some people hate it b/c it messes with there depth perception. There are other options such as restore/rezoom, but its a little more invasive than the lasik surgery, it is actually a lens implant that corrects dist and near. Its hard to tell what you would like – b/c every one is so different and has different needs. I would discuss it with your doctor to know all your options and see what he/she would recommend. I had lasik done 2 yrs ago and absolutely love it. Good luck and hope this helps.
If you choose contacts – they also have a bifocal contacts. Most doctors try the monovision first b/c the contacts are less money. I wouldnt take the first guys advice. It is so much better not to sleep in your contacts, esp at your age your eyes tend to be a little dryer. So I would go with a lens that is great for comfort. And there is so many risks involved with sleeping with your cls

I would continue to wear contacts and glasses. Nobody knows for sure the long-term results of LASIK and it’s expensive. Contacts and glasses have been around for years and their results are well-known. If your prescription changes, you can get a new pair. I’m not sure what you can do with LASIK when your prescription changes. Do you go back for an adjustment and then get charged the full price? I don’t know. Also, at my age, a lot of people need reading glasses. If I get my vision corrected, I’ve been told I would need them also. The option often given to older people about correcting one eye is not an acceptable one for me. My prescription is a strong one and the difference in vision would be very noticeable. I would wait until something better comes along.
