Contacts keep your eyes from changing shape very much and going without the contacts will give them a more realistic view of the landscape (for lack of better wording) of your cornea. The last ophthalmologist I worked for always told patients 14 days...then he would have a technician run a corneal topography to ensure that the cornea was in good enough shape to be successful during the LASIK. It will be at least a week and a really contientious doctor will require a couple of weeks or more.
