I Am 51 Years Old Women I Want To Go For Lasik Surgery What Are The Disadvantantages Of Lasik Surgery?

A big disadvantage is that something could go wrong and you could lose your eyesight altogether (words of my doctor). He recommends to anyone who is going to get the surgery that they do just one eye at a time in case anything does go wrong.

    Somewhat expensive.
3% chance you won’t like the results. Within that 3%, as with any surgery, there is the potential for disaster (lose your eyes). However, most of that 3% is problems with “rain vision” in the dark. Very rarely, the lens might get damaged in a way that is currently unfixable. There can also be problems with infection depending on what type of surgery – but that is usually correctable. A fair portion of that 3% is people who weren’t satisfied with the results but felt the results were better than if they hadn’t had the surgery and stopped do anything corrective (i.e. glasses, contacts).
A day of not being able to do much as you recover from the surgery.
All and all, 97% of the people who have the surgery think it is a miracle.
In almost all cases, as the patient grows older, they discover that they have a hard time reading – this is the same lens hardening that happens to those who don’t have surgery. These people will probably end up getting reading glasses. Just like everyone else. However, instead of ending up with bi-focals, they end up with simple lenses (far cheaper!).
At 51, your lens is probably already starting to harden, so you may end up switching between glasses and no glasses immediately after the surgery.
I would imagine there is SLIGHTLY higher chance of infection than if you were in your 20s – but negligible.
Its probably not going to change your sex life.

Most centers that do lasik offer a free consultation.. they make you sign a waiver saying you know it is possible you may go blind.. or that when you are over 40.. you may still need reading glasses.. im 23 had it done over a year ago and still have 20/20 vision.. best thing ive ever done!!

my mom received that. she’s 48 and had lasic at age 44. she sees 20/20 now and no issues. i’m pretty sure you will like the results

I think they dont do it on anyone over 40 or 50. I’m 51, and I wouldnt do it.
