Have Heard Good And Bad About Laser Eye Surgery (lasik)… Who Has Had And Do You Like Your Results?

I had it done about 2 years ago and am VERY happy I did. But just know that it may have to be done more than once (did 2x’s for me). It’s because doctors over correct you since when the human eye heals it reverts backwards. And since doctors can only estimate how far back it will rever, it may need to be touched up (with my doctor it was for a much smaller fee than the initial surgery). But, my sister got a cheaper version of the surgery and it was perfect in one shot.
All depends on your body. Oh, and one more thing that may be an issue to make you not want it is that your eyes may heal in a way that causes “starbursts” at night when light (street lights and car lights) are present. Makes things look like they have halo’s and can be an issue when trying to focus. But, again, it all depends on how your body heals.
I don’t personally know one person who regrets having it done even with the negative points I mentioned.
Good luck.

I haven’t had it done, but my mother has. She is just so ecstatic with the results that she just can’t stop talking about it and it’s been months.

I would never do that. I’m legally blind without glasses. Somehow with the glasses, I’m at about 20/15. (haven’t had my eyes officially checked for over 4 years, but I stood against the wall when my daughter was in last and could read the “itty bitty” last line)
I was told once that even if I had the procedure done, I would still need glasses; just a lesser prescription. I wouldn’t mess with my eyesight like that. I’m happy with glasses!

I had the surgery about 5 years ago and have been extremely pleased. There have been no side effects and my vision remains very good to this day.
With that said, I have heard stories about people having blurry vision after the surgery which has not been fixed. I would advise going to a reputable eye surgeon, even if it costs substantially more than the bargains you hear advertised on the radio. Furthermore, I would make sure you talk to several people whose surgery was performed by that doctor to ensure they had positive experiences.
Most likely, everything will work out well and you’ll be pleased you had it done. But, there are risks and your sight isn’t something you want to mess around with. If your vision isn’t too bad, contacts don’t bother you and the surgery makes you nervous, you may want to hold off.
