lasik eye surgery and Laser eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and lasik surgery in India by a company called Forerunners Healthcare. The Price for dental and lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.
Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.
They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.http://www.forerunnershealthcare.com
Hope this helps.

Best money I have ever spent. I can see!!! I went to the TLC center. You might want to check around and see if there are any in NYC. They have a lifetime guarantee as long as you have a check up every year. My check ups last about 15 minutes. I haven't had any problems at all and it has been 3 years since I had my surgery.
Do your homework. Mine was a bit more expensive than other places, but I felt better about the surgery center, the doctor's and the guarantee that came with it. Plus, I don't have to go to the surgery center to get a check up. As long as my doctor is a TLC affiliate, I can continue going to him. The surgery center I went to is not in my state. That makes things easier too. Once you have done your homework, and picked out your doctor, you will be glad to get it done. My surgery took 5 minutes, total, for both eyes. I had that scratchy feeling in my eyes afterwards, but those doctors wanted me to go back and sleep, which I did. When I got up the next morning, it was great! I could see and other than just a little "itchy" feeling, nothing bothered me! (I had 20/200 vision before the surgery, 20/20 the day of and now it is 20/15 and has been for 2 years. I spent $3600 for both eyes 3 years ago.)
Good luck with it!

The money i spent on lasik surgery was the best money i've ever spent. the surgery was fairly easy, only a little uncomfortable, but very quick. the recovery was easy because they gave me pills to make me sleep and when i woke up 6 hours later, i could see and there was no pain. my vision was at 20/35 the next day. after three months it was 20/25 and has stayed there. my original vision was 20/100. i highly recommend it, but have to advise against the cheap deals, i paid 3400 for both eyes two years ago. it was well worth it.
sorry, don't live in nyc.

I lived in Toronto when I had mine..it doesn't hurt, and you MUST follow the instructions regarding the wearing of the dopey glasses, and not rubbing or touching your eyes.. I need glasses for reading now, which I never did, but my distance eyesight is good.. I am happy I had it done..I can wear normal sunglasses which is nice.. but follow the instructions regarding bright lights and don't use the computer too much when you first have it done... but otherwise go for it..you should check out prices for having it done in Canada..it might be cheaper all around, especially with the exchange rate.

Find a doctor who has done a lot of them - don't just look for the bargain because these are your eyes not renewable fingernails.
The procedure was not bad - there was the smell of burning flesh that was a little disconcerting. Had to sleep with cones over the eyes for a few days. Needed someone to put drops in every couple hours for the couple days. Others who lived alone and didn't wake up to do this while they were drugged the first 12 hours had problems.

I had it done, it was the best thing I ever did for myself. I don't live in NYC, so I can't name any doctors there, but I can tell you that whatever you do, make sure it's a reputable doctor who has done the surgery many times before. Don't just go to the cheapest guy.

The procedure itself is gruesome. No pain, but the smell of burning eyeball is one you won't soon forget. After the surgery I had better than 20/20 vision! It was awesome. Unfortunately, though, my vision is progressively getting worse again (probably due to stress) but I won't go through that procedure again!
With all that being said, my vision is better now than pre-surgery and I'm glad I did it.

I worked with a Lasik Surgeon in NJ. His name is Dr. Barry Wasserman. Im telling you this because I really believe his skills are phenomenal...We had people coming in with tears in their eyes the very next day for their check up because they where so happy with the results. He is an amazing doctor and he is really caring. Be careful with cheap Lasik. these are your eyes. We had so many bad cases of people coming in with bad Lasik jobs. The good thing is that your eyes heal in 3 months or so to be able to re do a LASIK but for that time you are stuck with HALO, Blurry Vision, etc. Do some research, Get info from the Better Business Borough, even ask the offices to provide you with a list of people who have had LASIK through them. It is a very personal decision but YOU WONT regret it.
Good Luck!
I have attached his website for you!
