LASIK was the worst decision of my life. I have devoted my spare time to researching LASIK complications and building a website to warn others. If you take the time to read the medical literature, you’ll see that complications occur frequently after LASIK, and some complications never resolve. LASIK surgeons coverup and downplay the problems. I invite you to read my website where you will find factual information about LASIK. http://www.lasikcomplications.com
I myself haven’t gotten it. Had a friend that did and another friend who has done lots of research on getting it. Here’s what I know, because my husband talked about getting it. The person who I know that had it done said that he loved it. His only complaint was that after the surgery while driving at night he would see starbursts around any street or stop lights which he said made it very difficult to drive at night after the surgery. He was about 46 when he decided to get the surgery. My other friend is only about 31 years old. After much research he has reconsidered getting that done because he has found out that certain eye corrections only last for so many years, I believe he said 10 years. He said that was better for people who were older. He did believe that other than that issue it was a very safe and effective treatment with very low risk of incident in considering the number of people who have it done. What ever the vision problem it is your trying to correct, look up as many possible sites on the net with information on what you want. Be sure that you will only have your correction for a given number of years and then not be able to have the procedure done again. Look into sites or news articles about your specific procedure and see what any reported side effects are. Know all of your pros and cons before deciding.
i have not had it done
however i know some that have and love it and did work well
however they do tell you there is a chance of something going wrong
so think hard and make sure you have a doctor that has done alot them
talk it alot over with the doctor
I just got LASIK a month ago!!! I’ve detailed a full account of my experience at http://peppermint-gum.blogspot.com
Check it out – it should give you a good idea of what it’s all about!!!!
I got Lasik about three years ago. One of the very best things I ever did for myself. The first year afterwards my vision was 20/15 which is better than perfect. Now it is more like 20/20. Do your homework on who you go to. I would NOT have a regular eye doctor do it. Make sure it is a Lasik specialist and that they have been doing it for many years. The doctor I went to, was practicing it in Canada before the US approved it. He now does airplane pilots, law enforcement, etc. AND two of my friends went to him before me. The procedure itself does not hurt one bit. They put eye drops in your eye first to numb it. Afterwards it feels kind of grainy, almost like you have an eye lash in your eye. I had mine done in the afternoon, went home and took Tylenol PM and knocked out. The next day my eyes felt great. I went to work and everything! A little light sensitive for the first few months, but a small price to pay for perfect vision. And, I also did not have any of the night vision problems that can occur.
I say go for it!
P.S. I was 29 when I had mine done. Remember, age naturally make your vision change when you reach your 40’s. Having lasik will not stop natural aging from occuring. Most people end up needing reading glasses in their 40’s. With or without Lasik. It’s a personal decision, but for me, having 11 years without dealing with contacts or glasses was well worth the reading glasses I will likly need anyway in my 40’s! Plus the cost of lasik took care of itself in the first year without the cost of contacts, solution, and other upkeep items! Just another twist!
Lasik Eye Surgery is very common – I believe the blind cases are very few and extremely rare. My mother and both my aunts got them done.. and I know a sea of people at church who also got it done.. I heard it’s uncomfortable after you first get it done (i.e. sensitivity to sunlight, etc), but that goes away.
