-7.25…can I Get Lasik? Other Options? Can It Correct My Vision Somewhat? Will My Vision Be Horrible When Old

I have about a -7.25 in each eye….can i get lasik? other options? Implant safe? can lasik correct my vision somewhat at least or will they not perform it unless it can correct all the way? will my vision be horrible when I’m old if nothing is done? I already have such a high prescription I’m worried I’m going to be so blind when I’m old. Im 23 now.

First, you need to make sure your glasses rx has been stable over the last couple years, if not wait on LASIK. Generally, LASIK can be considered for persons with up to -12.00D. You need to have a corneal topography to make sure your cornea is thick enough. So it is impossible to tell you whether you are a good canidate without a complete eye examination. Most eye surgeons offer a free evaluation for this. I would recommend you go to a surgeon that is Fellowship trained in refractive surgery.

Yes. A pre-lasik check will determine it. Wearing of contacts. lasik does make it possible that no spect or contacts is needed. But do note there is other disadvantages in doing lasik. No, everyone after the age of 40 will have problem reading things that is near.

Possibly. It depends on your cornea maps (topography) and cornea thickness. However, you would probably have better quality vision with the Visian ICL lens. LASIK almost creates a platuea of your cornea, changing it from it’s natural bullet like shape. This platuea usually causes a less crisp quality of vision for patients with higher prescriptions. Usually, once you reach -6.00 and above most surgeons start discussing the Visian ICL. The great option about the Visian ICL is that it could be removed. Once you have laser done, that can’t be undone. Learn more at: http://www.ICLinfo.com. Watch the Visian ICL performed live on the Today Show
