Lens replacement isn’t usually advocated as a refractive surgery – it’s usually used for cataract surgery. It is where the natural lens in your eye is removed and it is replaced with a plastic one of the appropriate power to focus light on the retina.
The downside of that is that if you are young then you completely lose the ability to focus and you would need reading glasses. If you are older then it doesn’t matter so much as you need reading glasses anyway.

I had LASIK two weeks ago today, I had alot of pain for about 8 hours after. Although I have had no pain since my vision is still very blurred. I cannot see well enough to drive. The clinic where I had the treatment have told me my eyes are inflamed and until inflamation goes down my vision will remain blurred but I have no answers as to how long this will take?

Yes. I would def recommend it. Had it done 5 years ago, and my sight is better than 20/20. Wouldn’t change a thing.

The operation itself was painless however, when the medication wore off, I was in a LOT of pain. Sleep for the first 24 hours, and follow the orders to a T. The freezing drops are a blessing if you do what I did and accidentally poked my eye with the tip of my drop bottle. I thought I was going to die!! One freezing drop and the pain was gone.
Basically the first 3 days suck, and then it’s smooth sailing from there on. I did have halos if I drove at night for about a year, but it went away. Good luck!

When I looked into it, you can be as young as 17 in most states but they prefer to wait. Your eyesight will typically level out around 24-25, so it doesn’t make a lot of sense to have it done at say 20, then have your eyesight continue to degrade for 4-5 more years. Also, in women, pregnancy can alter your eyesight so if you plan to have children at an early age, they like you to wait until after the baby is born.
